Rare Earth Market, Electric Vehicles and Future Mobility Index: A Time-Frequency Analysis with Portfolio Implications

چکیده

This study investigates the co-movements between Solactive Electric Vehicle and Future Mobility Index (EVFMI) multiple rare earth elements (REEs). We applied a TVP-VAR model bivariate wavelet coherence approach to capture both in time frequency domain considering short-, medium- long-term investment horizons. Using daily returns from 1 June 2012 4 2021, results of show that individual REEs EVFMI have strong return connectedness are heterogenous over time. The reveals Dysprosium, Neodymium, Praseodymium Terbium positive co-movement (in-phase) with medium-term long-term. In contrast, Cerium, Europium, Lanthanum Yttrium negative (out-phase) find MVIS Global Rare Earth/Strategic Metals (MVREMX) at scales. Following lead/lag relationship, Europium Lanthanum, leading EVFMI, Praseodymium, MVREMX lagging EVFMI. study, therefore, suggests hedging diversification properties Specifically, act as hedges horizons weak or diversifiers short-term These may be particular interest investors relevant policymakers

Two Alternative Approaches for Modelling a Portfolio of Electric Vehicles

This paper describes two alternative optimization approaches, global and divided, for supporting the participation of an electric vehicles (EV) aggregator in the day-ahead spot market. The two optimization approaches are formulated as linear optimization problems, and the difference is on how information about EV is represented. The global approach uses aggregated (or total) values of the EV va...

Portfolio Choice with Market Closure and Implications for Liquidity Premia

Most existing portfolio choice models ignore the prevalent periodic market closure and the fact that market volatility is significantly higher during trading periods. We find that market closure and the volatility difference across trading and nontrading periods significantly change optimal trading strategies. In addition, we numerically demonstrate that transaction costs can have a first order...

Electric vehicles contribution for frequency control with inertial emulation

This work proposes a novel primary frequency control technique with electric vehicles (EV), the combination of inertial emulation and droop control, for isolated systems. Being EV dispersed along the grids, the impacts of possible delayed actions are assessed. Islanded systems have reduced inertia and so load/generation imbalance situations may lead to large frequency deviations. Therefore, thi...

Cooperative Decision Making of DERs in a Joint Energy and Regulation Market in Presence of Electric Vehicles

Today due to increasing and evolving of electrical grids, the optimal and profitable energy production is among producers' major concerns. Thus, conventional ways of production and trading energy are being replaced by modern economical procedures. In addition, distributed energy resources (DERs) in form of renewable and conventional resources as well as responsive loads play an important role i...
